ASAP FAQ

  • Q:

    What is a cosmeceutical?

    A:

The term cosmeceutical is used to describe a product combining cosmetic products with pharmaceuticals that are applied topically. ASAP's cosmeceutical range is doctor-formulated. It is based on the use of active ingredients such as alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and antioxidants to provide fast-acting, visible results.

  • Q:

What are AHAs and how do they work?

    A:

Derived from various plant sources, Glycolic Acid is the most active and beneficial of the alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs). AHAs gently loosen the glue-like substance that holds dead cells to the skin without taking away the skin's moisture barrier, revealing fresher, more radiant looking skin. With consistent use, AHAs work beneath the skin's surface to lighten pigmentation caused by sun damage and stimulate collagen production. By increasing collagen production, skin becomes firmer and fine lines and wrinkles less visible, resulting in a more youthful appearance.

  • Q:

Are ASAP products tested on animals?

    A:

ASAP is opposed to the testing of skin care products on animals. ASAP Skin Products are only tested on human volunteers!

  • Q:

Are ASAP products suitable for sensitive skin?

    A:

Whilst a number of clients with sensitive skin or Rosacea love the results they have achieved using ASAP products, what works for one may not always work for another. For this reason, ASAP always recommends customers visit a trained ASAP skin care professional who can correctly analyse your skin and recommend the most appropriate combination of products to use.

  • Q:

Are ASAP skin products suitable for all ages?

    A:

ASAP Skin Products offers scientifically proven skin care solutions for women and men of all ages with varying skin types and conditions. The range is particularly beneficial for difficult skin types such as sun-damaged, ageing and acne-prone skin. Regardless of age, ASAP always recommends that customers seek the advice of a trained skin care professional when deciding what products to include in their skin care program.

  • Q:

How long before I see results from using ASAP products?

    A:

Benefits should be seen almost immediately. Your skin will feel smoother and look clearer. Your skin may tingle when you first begin using the products – this is perfectly normal and to be expected when using products containing fruit acid. Initially, your skin may feel a little dryer and flaky, as the dead skin cells begin to slough away and fresh skin cells come to the surface. This will subside as your skin adapts to the products and the thick layer of dead skin cells is reduced. You can expect to see improvements in your skin continuing over a number of months until your skin reaches optimum condition.

  • Q:

Why do you recommend daily exfoliation?

    A:

Exfoliation, the process of removing the outer layer of dead skin cells, has been practiced safely for centuries by men and women all over the world. Men who shave actually exfoliate every day. As we age, our skin cell turn over slows down, which can result in a dull, lifeless complexion. By exfoliating daily, dead skin cells are removed, allowing for better penetration of products containing active ingredients and resulting in a smoother, clearer complexion.

  • Q:

Why is there no toner in the ASAP range?

    A:

ASAP_GroupMost toners are solvents containing alcohol, which remove natural oils from the skin. This can result in skin feeling tight. To correct this unpleasant feeling, it is necessary to put oil back in the skin in the form of a moisturiser. By not using a toner, the body's natural oils are not removed in the first place. The suggestion that toners can shrink the pores is incorrect. Toners were originally designed to help remove the oil residue left on the skin from cream based cleansers. The ASAP range of scientifically developed products contain correctly designed cleansers and exfoliating scrub that can achieve excellent results without the excessive drying effect of a toner. If you are adamant that you would like to include a toner in your skin care program, ASAP's gentle eye make-up remover can be used to great effect as a toner.
